Initial Solution for Correlation

Once you have chosen the AOI you have to define the starting point for the correlation process. It is from this point that the correlator will find all the deformations between the initial and the deformed pictures. You must be able to find the initial point in the deformed picture.

If you have several AOI, you have to pick as many initial points as areas.

If you want to delete the existing initial points, click on the Initial Solution button :

Manual selection

Click on the Initial Solution button :

Pick an initial solution in the reference picture

Selection of the initial solution in the AOI of the reference picture

Find and click on the deformation of the initial solution in the deformed picture.

Once you have picked the initial solution Icasoft simulates the propagation :

Now, you can Save your work.

Automatic selection

Click on the Initial Solution button :

Right click on the reference picture and left click Enable Auto Search

Right click contextual menu

Pick an initial solution in the reference picture. Icasoft automatically finds the deformed point in the deformed picture.

Once you have picked the initial solution Icasoft simulates the propagation (from black to white squares) :

Best start point selection

Icasoft can determinate the start point that will lead to the best result of the correlation based on the grey level of the start point and the area surrounding it. When you move the pointer on the reference picture you can see a gauge on the left of the screen. The gauge indicates the quality of the start point. The color of the gauge varies from blue (bad start point) to red (excellent start point).

The best start point can be automatically determinate right clicking on the picture and selecting Show best start point. The best start point is shown on the reference picture :
